Prayer of Salvation

Often we work so hard to be successful in life only to feel disappointed, empty, and unsatisfied. No matter the measure of success we achieve, life has no real value and meaning without a relationship with Jesus. The Bible says in Romans 3:23 that all of us have sinned, or missed the mark, when it comes to life. No matter how good we may be, we are born into moral failure. We are separated from God, and that's where the emptiness we feel comes from.

But we don't have to live that way. The Bible also says that Jesus came so that we could have life and enjoy it! (John 10:10 amp.)  The answer we are looking for is found when we stop living our way--doing only what seems right to us -- and start living God's way. The first step in that process is a simple prayer. You can pray this out loud and you can begin your new life in Jesus Christ:

Father, I come to you just as I am. I know there is nothing I can do to earn salvation; I cannot work my way into a right relationship with You. I confess that I have sinned against You and others, and I ask You to forgive me and wash me clean of my sin. I believe that Jesus is Your Son and that He took my sin upon Himself and died on the cross for me. I believe He was raised from the dead so that I can be with you for eternity. Jesus, I ask you to send Your Spirit to live on the inside of me, to help me live a new life Your way. I don't know everything about being a Christian, but I invite you to be Lord of my life and teach me how to walk with you each day. Thank You, Lord, for a new chance at life. In Jesus' name, amen.
